THE ORIGIN OF CHAMOSON
The mountain town of Chamoson lies at an altitude of ca. 1400 metres. Chamoson region was for centuries the first summer stopover place for cattle owners. These farmers would drive their cattle to the fields of Chamoson for a stay around mid May. From there the cows would go up to the upper mountain villages Loutze and Chamosentze. Until this day the cattle still gazes on the fields in this area that almost seems to be untouched-by-humans. It is most likely you will encounter these exact same cows in action during the cow fighting games in the area.
Since the 1930’s it was common grandmothers and mothers would bring the children up in the mountains to enjoy their summer holidays and make sure the children would gain their strengths with fresh air for the upcoming school year. Regular visits to the chapel were no exception. There is a chapel in Chamoson that has been built in 1942, this still plays an important role in the community and is worth a visit. Up until this day, local families still spend their summers in their chalet according to the tradition and properly enjoy the Swiss Alps. It seems they sure know how to relax and live life, so why not consider to buy a chalet in the Swiss Alps and look through our portfolio?
